Suffolk’s Priority Liverwort and Moss Species

Key
Listed as a conservation priority in Suffolk’s Biodiversity Action Plan.
Closely associated with Suffolk’s landscape and natural identity.
Identified as a key priority for recovery under Suffolk’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
Has a Species of the Month article attached.

Most moss recording in the County has been coordinated by the British Bryological Society, Richard Fisk has undertaken a major survey of Suffolk and the results were published in A Flora of Suffolk

The excellent BBS Field Guide to Mosses and Liverworts of Britain and Ireland should enable recorders to identify most species with a hand lens in the field. Further guidance on recording and identification can also be found on the British Bryological Society website, and our own Species Identification Guides page is well worth a look.
